You are (not) alone.

Although I can remember the details of almost everything that happened in my life, for some reasons, I am not a person of reminiscence. Therefore, in this blog, I will only write about those who I met in this four months and provided me with warmth and helps.

First, I want to express my thankfulness to the faculty members of the Webb School, especially Mrs. Berzinskas, Mr. Chicken, and Ms. Qian.

To all the international students like me, Mrs. Berzinskas is like a friend who is always willing to help us when we are in trouble. In these four months, I've experienced more things than I experienced in one year in the past. I saw how a Chinese girl who was not confident about herself changed her classes in the beginning of the semester. Also, I saw how a Russian boy became addicted to drug and kicked out by the school at the end of the first quarter. When these two things happened on these two kids, Mrs. Berzinskas tried to help them as much as she could, just like a mother to her child. Mrs. Berzinskas's action and personality encouraged me to keep moving forward.

Many of my peers dislike Mr. Chicken for different kinds of reasons. However, he is one of my favorite teachers in this school, because in his class, I learned not only history knowledge, but also how one can learn effectively. There is love in his strictness.

Ms. Qian is from China, but I don’t know what province she is from. Because of her accent and teaching style, she is not as popular as some other teachers. Although our mother language is Chinese, when we were talking in person, we still use English. At the beginning of the semester, it is hard for me to follow the paces of the class, but after went extra help for Ms. Q for several times, I get an average score of 97 in the second semester. In her class, I usually feel relaxed and unstrained, although sometimes I would make some minor mistakes in the math problem.

The dorm parents of Cooper Farris, Mr. Garcia, Mr. Hyatt, Mr. Griggs, and Ms. Sykes, brought the dormitory a sense of home. Because of them, whenever I go back to Cooper Farris, I can feel relaxed and comfortable about the environment surround me.

My friends also helped me in my daily living.

Calvin, the Chinese freshman from Guangzhou, is one of my best friends. Unlike the other kids from China, he usually goes to the gym instead of playing video games on computer in his free time. Because he invited me several times, I determined to go to the gym to strengthen my body and lose weight regularly. Compared to the Leo Chen from 4 months ago, I am much more light and tenacious now.

The kids in Cooper Farris kids, who are all warm-hearted and nice,
helped me to assimilate into the little society in the Webb school. Without their helps, I would probably still be lonely and sad all the time.

Ms. Wang, the exchange teacher from China, provided me with lots of helps. When I destroyed my clothes, or didn’t know how to wash my silk quilt, she will always become the first person who provides help to me. Also, in my hardest time, she gave me a hand and prevented me from being despair and desolate. I am really happy that she cares me more than she should, otherwise I don’t know how I can persist in the plight.

In addition to the people who I wrote about, there are still many people who provided me helps, such as the cooks in the school dining hall, Mr. Foulk, Dr. Badger, Aubrey……I want to express my thankfulness to all of them; They are the reason why I can become Leo Chen.
