Experience of Community Service

Lot things in the world are permanent, which means that they are unchangeable and unquenchable. The formula "2+2=4" is a good example.

Curiosity is one of the always permanent things because people always tend to have a great curiosity for the things that they have never seen before. I think that is the reason why I want to do community service.

In fact, when I was doing the community service of standing on a rock slate to ensure the cross-country runners was running along the right way, I was bored. The only two things I could do were watching them running by walking paces and waving my arms to tell them which way to go. Other volunteers were working in groups, only I was working individually, it meant that I did not even have a person who I could talk to.

However, only when the atmosphere is silent and you feel bored, you can be conscious of something really detailed. When I was standing on the rock slate, I saw different types of cross country runners. Some of them were muscular, they looked like that they felt relaxing when they were running, but every time they moved a step, I could say that the grass under their feet were crying. Some of them were not so muscular. When this kind of runners was passing by, they always showed a ferocious face, but normally they were still running. And the last type of athletes were the athletes who had a great quantity of fat on their legs, most of them were just walking. I don't think that walking on the cross-country contest is an embarrassing thing because the athletes at least finished the 3-miles-distant course. For me, even walking 3 miles is a challenge.

Trying new things is always good, because only after you try them, you can know whether they are suitable for you or not. Although community service was a little bit boring, I could feel something interesting inside this kind of boring, so next time when I get chance to participate in a community service, I think I'll still participate.

  1. You looked SO BORED each time I drove by! I am glad you made the best of it, and it's interesting to read your observations. 3 miles is a big deal. You have very good descriptive writing skills. I'd love to see you polish up this grammar. I can help you!
